Babette’s Notes
These are notes from my writing to try to articulate the learning process within WIM. It is an attempt to help us land more fully in an innate learning processes and shed ‘classroom’ learning implicit beliefs.
For a moment see if you can suspend your past notions of learning, especially those defined, developed AND embodied within the experience of education, school or classroom. Some of the common unconsciously embodied feelings/ideas about classroom learning are:
there is a teacher who knows and a student who is there to learn from the wise teacher
learning is ‘getting it’, or having an answer - teacher has an answer
judgement, evaluation, assessment says something about you having learned or not
Not one of the above bullet points has anything at all to do with how ‘learning’ is understood in WIM. I think this transposing of ‘classroom’ education to WIM material is a source for most struggles with the WIM material. If you find you self feeling like —You aren’t getting it, you have a sense others are, you are a slow learner, or somehow are looking to me to teach or know, — struggling makes sense. Those are feelings of classroom learning and I don’t set-up the work to have that kind of ‘get it’ feeling. We are in a different universe of knowing (not-knowing).
I continue to explore ways to help us enter a world of innate learning, alchemic learning, true co-learning that is like the process of how an acorn ‘learns’ to become a tree.
Recall a seed, an acorn or pea or favorite flower.
Here is a living potency.
Now there is an action:
it falls to the ground, a bird eats and excretes, you plant it….
The life force within and the world as light, rain, heat, soil, air, spirit swirl in natures cauldron. The alchemy of life weaves, scatters, gathers — roots reach down and shoots emerge and seed becomes tree, flower, pea and becomes acorn, seed, and pea and on and on and on.
Mutual exchanges of world, action, internal processes, action, reception, expression are the principles of patterns of life.
In WIM
There are no real ‘don’t know’ to ‘I do know’ moments. There are just on-going questions that inspire play and movement and reading and images and a form… a moment of connection is felt…wonder…wow…amazing…and then another question: How does fluidity and form relate to perception and wave lengths? We dance and we wonder and wow wow there is a beaver damn and it is all there or we get an A.B.A song structure and all kinds of fluidity creating the between of the form. Or we just ask about eyes and suddenly we feel not just the receiving property of the physical structure of eyes but the expressive, transmission aspect of eyes that we have recognized through out time —- smile in the eyes — window to the soul.
I don’t know. I don’t have answers. I don’t have anything to teach you. I have questions and a craving for exploring with others my and their questions. I ‘curate’ my questions with the inspiration and guidance of the Patterns so we can ‘learn’ together. I discover relationships and feel whole in community with you dancing a question. The Patterns are the seeds we sow to open us to the breadth and expanse and depth and ordinary, transcendent Wholeness. The details open us to wholeness. Wholeness leads us to the details.
I wonder how this writing feels to you? How it relates to your experience of WIM? How it informs or contradicts your felt-sense of ‘learning’?
